Nox took a break to meet with the chief medic, Jens.  “How are the casualties doing?”

“They appear to be in perfect stasis,” Jens said. “Although I can’t say as I’d want to be stuck like that indefinitely”

“They won’t feel a thing. They might not even remember it.”

“I sincerely hope not.” He glanced inside the mausoleum. “How much longer will you need to prepare, my Lady?”

Nox let out a frustrated sigh. “That’s the problem with sorcery. It’s so fidgety, and time consuming to set up.  You can’t just carve a few lines and say ‘go’ like you would with an elemental casting. It’s all bound up in symbols and elaborate incantations.”

Jens shrugged. “They are not going anywhere. Better to take your time, Lady Ice.”

“Enough with the ‘lady’ stuff, Jens. You have known me since the day I was born, I think you can call me Nox.”

He shook his head. “I beg your pardon, Lady, but your father placed you in charge.  Until such time as your father or mother can reassume control, you are the Lady Ice, ruler of this House.”

“Oh. Damn,”  Nox said, as the implications of Grimm’s little white lie sunk in. Kel was going to pitch a fit. “Let’s hope they can take over again soon.”

Methinks the mantle of power wighs heavily on Nox’s shoulders. I love how this is developing.
